Willie Clifton Joffrion Memorial Scholarship

Anchored in Excellence

Let this scholarship be the first step in your journey.

Introduction

The Willie Clifton Joffrion Memorial Scholarship (WCJMS) was established in May 2024 to honor the life and legacy of Willie Clifton Joffrion—affectionately known as "Buddy." Willie was a man of resilience, service, and unwavering determination whose dream of becoming a doctor was cut short by financial hardship. Though he achieved much in life through his service in the U.S. Air Force and a successful 25-year career with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, he never forgot the sting of being unable to afford college.

Before his passing, Willie expressed one final wish—that his savings and assets be used to create a scholarship fund to help others achieve the opportunities he was denied. Out of this wish, the WCJ Memorial Scholarship was born.

Anchored in His Vision

The WCJMS exists to support high school graduates who are pursuing a two- or four-year college education as first generation college students, with priority given to students who demonstrate:

  • Resilience in overcoming challenges.
  • Service to their communities.
  • Determination in reaching for educational and career goals.

More than financial assistance, this scholarship is a testament to Willie’s belief in the power of education to transform lives and communities. Inspired by the words, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste," the WCJMS ensures that his dream lives on by opening doors for future generations of scholars.
